The Ohvale UK Cup was started in 2020, by motorbike racing legend, British Superbike (BSB) rider, and Isle of Man TT lap record holder, Peter Hickman.

Peter is driven by a passion for helping develop and promote young motorcycle racing talent here in the UK, and to this end, the Ohvale UK Cup is for riders between 8 and 15 years of age. The bikes are either Automatic transmission, or four-speed Manual, with 4-stroke petrol engines.

The Cup is a 10 round British Championship, heading to all parts of the UK, utilising kart tracks including Pembrey in Wales, Ellough Park in Norfolk, Rowrah in Cumbria, and Lydd down in Kent.

Race weekends consist of a practice day on a Friday, practice and qualifying on a Saturday followed by a warm-up session and two races on a Sunday. It’s a packed schedule.

The bikes must be kept standard, which means the racing is all about rider talent, and not how deep parents’ pockets are. The Ohvale GP bikes are real race machines and can top speeds of over 85mph - fast, particularly when the racing takes place on go kart tracks.

Peter has committed a lot of time and effort to the Cup, and as well as devoting his personal time, has also arranged for instruction for the young racers from British Superbike, Moto GP, and road racing riders, as well as British Minibikes trainers and seasoned members of the Motorcycle Media, on and off the track, encompassing safety procedures, race craft, and media training.

With the championship extended to both 110cc and 160cc for the 2021 summer season and plans to include a new 190cc Ohvale GP-0 class for 2022, it’s an exciting time for young British talent.

Big brands such as Motul Oil, SBS Braking Systems, Pirelli Tyres, and British brand Reactive Parts have all signed-up to help the Championship, supporting riders with not only products, but also podium and championship bonus’.
